Request for pictures from the NEC
« on: 29 November 2012, 09:32:18 pm »
I have a favour to ask of anyone going to the NEC.

You will have the immense privilege of seeing my new bike - which I myself have yet to clap eyes on despite having forked out money for it.

So anyone going, could you please pop past the BMW stand and get lots of photos of the HP4 I assume they'll have on the stand, and then putting them on here so that I can actually see it.

If you're feeling really generous you could also ask the techie guys to confirm what the OEM tyres are going to be (I understand that they are HP4 specific Diablo Supercorsa's), and what their thoughts are of temporarily putting Michelin Pilot Road 3's on, which would mean reducing the rear 200 section tyre to a 195 (same rim size, and the base S1000rr has a 195 rear, so I assume it would be ok).  Supercorsa's would never get up to temp in the cold and wet and would grip like a wet fish, but PR3's are astounding wet weather tyres.

Thanky-kindly  :kiss
I can put three hundred letters in here? Really?  I can dump this much crap at the bottom of each and every post and reply that I do, and there not a stinking thing  you can do about it.  I can also put in a picture you say?  My my, aren’t we generous with the space all of a sudden.  This won’t last

You're right, there is only one HP4 however,  it's the S1000RR as the boxer engined one was the HP2!  ;)

As for the OP, is there such a thing as a 195 tyre? I presume you mean 190.  If the rim is the same size as the cooking version then I wouldn't see much problem using a 190 PR3 on the HP4, though seeing as the 200 isn't that rare a tyre size these days Im surprised that Michelin don't do the PR3 in it.

In my experience the bods on the stands are sales droids rather than techies & will just repeat what's in the brochure, so you'd be far better off knocking out a mail to BMW &/or Michelin directly & asking them.

Now THAT is one sexy piece of bike!

I'm suddenly feeling all peculiar in my pants.

Got the confirmation on late Friday that it's been built and passed to international transporters.

Actually managed to snag a look at/sit on one. The dealer was lent one for the international launch day and invited me down to see it - which actually coincided with the day we had got tickets to take the boys to see Santa on the Christmas express steam train - bailing on that would have seen me parted from my Magic Wing Wang, but thankfully they let me come down before launch to have a play.

I can put three hundred letters in here? Really?  I can dump this much crap at the bottom of each and every post and reply that I do, and there not a stinking thing  you can do about it.  I can also put in a picture you say?  My my, aren’t we generous with the space all of a sudden.  This won’t last
