Hi
Ive just stripped carbs and cleaned jets due to a blocked pilot jet after refitting carbs checked they were balanced then checked TPS and its showing 3000 on rev counter
I cant adjust it at the moment due not having security torx typical
technical question ???? what effect does the TPS have on the engine ??

the tps is throttle position sensor, and provides info to the ignition control unit ..on throttle opening and closing positions!!!

not quite sure steve on that?..but it should read 5000,if it shows 0,or 10,000 it needs adjusting!!...i think the 3000 reading says theres a fault and it needs adjustment if i remember rightly as i had same prob on me fjr?,its easy though to fk up your settings just by tightening the screws up so ...bit at a time mate?

3000 rpm is the TPS, it is either disconnected or short circuited. Check all the connections and cable.
The timing is set to a fully opened throttle, it is a get you home mode

Does anybody know exactly what size Torx bit it is. Balanced my carbs and decided to check the TPS and predictably it need adjusting. Cheers.

Dont forget its the SECURITY torx bit you want with the hollow centre not the normal bit which is solid.
Sorry if you already know I'm just making sure you get the right jobby.

Adjusted the TPS in about 10 seconds in my lunch break and was rewarded with a bike that starts more eagerly and revs far more crisply from idle. Worth the £3 outlay for correct Torx bit if it needs adjusting imo.
