Easy one for you guys... Chain oiling!
« on: 19 June 2012, 07:36:05 pm »
So, not having a centre stand, involves moving the bike back, oil, move back.... Repeat.

Is there an easier way?

Axle stand, lean bike over on sidestand and shove an axle stand under other side, never tried it on the fazer but works a treat on my XT, if the stand switch is disabled you can run in gear while oiling (very carefully!!!)

Spray top, spray bottom, spray round sprocket. Ride for a mile or two to get it round entire chain

not sure how good it is but looks like it will do the job and is much easyer to store than a padocstand

Buy a centre stand
Buy an Abba stand (much the same as above)
Fit a Scott Oiler
Buy one of them cheap and nasty wheel mover things (basically you put your rear wheel on it and its either rollers or balls that make it "suppposedly" easy to move your rear wheel
Hope that helped :-D

The motorcycle jack looks interesting, might well be useful for cleaning and polishing. May well look into that in the future.

However in these tough economic times I think Tiberius has the answer. Will the oil really spread around the entire chain?

I really hope so!
