Two ways of looking at start up lubrication, low oil pressure at low rev's or higher pressure with more rev's. I've never sat warming an engine up, just started the engine and driven off, never had one blow up yet.

I start mine up with choke, then choke off and let it idle for 30 seconds to a minute. Then go.

If at Sharp Hall I start mine and let it run while put on my lid, ear plugs and gloves, 1 min max, that way I can hear if bits are falling off before my lid and plugs gos on.
If out in public then I dont start it untill I am sitting on it ready to go.
