Hiya fellas,

In a dilemma and need a bit of help.

After the CBF 1000 committed suicide after 5 months of ownership I'm in need of a new work bike. Got it down to 2 bikes but would like some input from anyone. My heart is shouting 1 bike and my head the other.

Triumph definitely. The 1050 engine is a peach and is far more modern

No feckin help at all for some reason. I did say "work bike" Skip not "want" bike. If it was "want" then it'd be an MV Agusta Brutale RR every day - thanks anyway.

Tiger for me too. Seems to fit the commuting bill a bit better IMO and the engine is indeed a belter

Out of those 2 I'd go for the first one. I like Triumphs but not the cost of the big service. The 1050 is without a doubt a sweet lump.The 1250 is nice and torquey and parts are cheap enough. The place in the 1st link I've been to a few times and they add an admin fee on top for some reason and they're not the cheapest but most of there stuff is decent and presented well.

Any reason in particular you're looking at bikes from dealers as I'm sure you'd find cheaper like for like on gumtree, autotrader and ebay.

Tigers are nice but the bandit is probably the sensible option.

One of my pals, a lifelong motorcyclist and a wealthy one at that, uses a bike to visit his clients 5 days a week averaging 1,000 miles plus. As long as I've known him he's always chosen Yamahas and Suzukis, currently the 1250, and he could afford anything on the market, but the most important requirement is starting on the button every morning week in week out. Look upon it as "What's the best tool for the job".

What did you do to the cbf? CBF threw its TPS out of the pram. Can't buy seperate, have to buy with throttle bodies @ £1500. It also took out the ECU which is £600 for a 2nd hand kit. Read about a few Deauvilles, Pans etc and other CBF 1000 owners who have coughed up only to have it re-occur 12 months later. Totally lost faith in Honda's even though I've put mine down to being a "friday bike." You can buy a Kawasaki TPS seperate ffs! Tried a few Chinky copy TPS units @ £25 a pop from the States - they set up fine but only last 5-10miles

More reliable Suzuki , but like you I would prefer the Triumph.
Why not a low mileage gen 1 ?

Now looking for recommendations as to the best Bandit forum for all round info.

So what is the Bandit equivalent to this site?

Yeah I thought seeing as this site is called FOC-U it was the nearest thing I could think of. Not very pc admittedly... but I can never resist a bit of schoolboy humour.
