AA Breakdown Cover Question
« on: 24 June 2016, 07:07:07 pm »
Hi guys.

Does AA Breakdown Cover also cover you for when you are riding a motorbike instead of driving the car, or do you have to take out specific motorcycle cover?.

Many thanks in anticipation.

YFF.

With the AA the person is covered regardless of vehicle.

Yes personal cover. I read the part on the AA website that says about any vehicle, but there's also a bit about buying motorcycle cover, hence the confusion!.

Thanks for the replies  :thumbup

I have personal cover with AA, covers me for any bike ,car or van which I all use on a regular basis, I checked the small print before I took it out.

Covers you for any vehicle you are either piloting or even a passenger, had to use it once when on my old 600 Boxeye and when in a mates car

With the AA the person is covered regardless of vehicle.
Unless you go for the base option which is the headline lowest quoted price "cover from" and that one is to cover a single car/bike only.

Strangely enough, the best place to find the cheapest deal with breakdown cover is those little stalls you find with just the one person manning it in a shopping centre.
Cheaper than buying online or over the phone.

The first year is quite cheap, second year is not, I swap and change every year just like I do  with all my different vehicle insurances.

Slightly off track, I'm now with GEM after being in the RAC for years, found out that they would not recover any motorbike under 121cc so my then C90 was not covered.
Loads of lads from the C90 site kicked them into touch and as such they now pick up any bike over 49cc.

Do you know what their previous reasoning was for not recovering bikes under 121cc?.

Not a clue, I phoned and emailed asking the question but they never gave an answer, only after quite a few folk of the 90 site complained and withdrew membership did they look further in to it and finally dropped it to 49cc.
