My first dealing with Pinlock

After 15 years of riding and spitting inside my visor convinced that helped with demisting, I made a purchase.


I bought a Caberg Duke (I like Caberg) which comes with a Pinlock ready visor and Pinlock insert as standard.


Used the new helmet for the first time this morning during a session of heavy rain, no steaming up at all. I deliberately kept the visor down the whole journey.


What a difference that makes to a ride!


No idea why I hadn't gone for Pinlock before now, perhaps busy lifting my visor every 100 yards!


Get one, you won't be disappointed (perhaps some will!) but you know what I mean.

I have one on my Caberg as well, came supplied with it in the box and the few times I have ridden in the cold and wet it has worked very well.

Funnily enough, I just took my pinlock insert out of my Nolan helmet as it had a big scratch and I haven't got a new one yet and was amazed how much misting I got without one! Definately putting one back in ASAP!

Like I said, I was just simply amazed and at my age that's only usually accomplished by the discovery of a new species of hamster.


I was riding in the rain a few days previous and found myself riding slow distracted by the fact I was lifting my visor every few minutes, which isn't ideal.

I personally have always used the Progrip visor insert, which is is trickier to fit but does a damn good job with reactolite lens, anti-glare and anti-mist/fog properties.


I normally keep a hamster in my side pocket to remove heavily splatted flies during the warm summer 3 days. (that's a joke, don't report me to the RSPCA  )

definitely, they are well worth it.

Two caveats:

1) Be careful not to scratch it, they're only soft plastic

2) Keep it well adjusted. If you start to get misting again, try running a piece of paper around the silicone "bead" where it meets the visor. If the paper slips under, tweak the eccentric pins on each side to make sure it's in good contact all the way around.
