I fitted these, got them off  ebay for £20, Chinese copies of the Cree ones. Wired them through a switch from a live feed.

I fitted HIDs. Best safety improvement I have ever made to any bike.

Its actualy red and black :)
I have taken some photos that show how I mounted them, hardest part is finding somewhere to mount them. Mine are mounted on the side of the radiator and feel pretty stable, I had to buy some longer stainless  bolts and make  spacers out of some scrap stainless pipe that I had lying around.
These are really just to make you more visible, if you want to get a better light for you to see better then HID might be the way to go.

Can't be bothered to look up the Construction and Use regs to find out what the minimum allowable spacing is, but I think you might have those a bit too near the indicators to be legal.

Found it today:
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/made
For dipped lights, only 100mm separation (oddly, no spec for the direction so you could have the light right behind the indicator as seen from some angles).
Presumably your spots are wired to the high beam, so there shouldn't be a problem anyway.
