Engine oil light
«

Hi all,
I recently had my engine oil and filter, for my 2001 Gen1, changed prior to doing a 2000+ Km ride. On my homeward leg, I noticed the engine oil light coming on but goes off as soon as I cut back on the revs. Pulled over a couple of times during ride to check the oil levels but that seems fine, and it doesn't seem to be burning oil. Also had my mate look out for tell tale 'blue' smoke out the back but there wasn't any.
Anyone experience similar issues like this on their ride? And is it my engine oil sensor playing up and needs replacing?
Thanks

The engine oil light works from an oil level switch and notoriously will be triggered if you haven't put enough oil in so it comes just below the maximum marks on the sight glass. You should check the oil level with the bike on its centre stand with a warm engine and after leaving it to stand a few minutes for the level to settle.

A common thing with the Gen 1 Fazer. The sensor tells oil level not pressure. You almost certainly have the oil level too low after the oil change.
The oil level needs to be at or very slightly above the top line on the oil window.
Top up the oil and the problem will go away.

Been there had that. Happened to me on my first gen 1 as I was about half a mile away from my dealer - only came on at full throttle. I rode straight to the dealer and he said exactly what Mike said. Gave me a little top up of oil (just below the max mark) and that was the end of that.

Thanks all, and sorry for this very very delayed response....I did as suggested and, yes, that solved the problem. Just topped up with more oil, just above the high level mark and problem solved.
