Although my setup is not identical to yours (i need to pull my flies) and have a standard catless system, I tried your map - it's pretty good, the midrange pull is nice and firm with front wheel keen to leave horizontal in the first 3 gears. It's also a lot less fluffy than the HMRacing map I was using before. I might look at both maps and see if I can blend your mids into my high and low.

Cheers Brooker

If you dont mind Brooker id like to give this map a try as my first ever map please.

Thing is im on a PC5....well when i fit it anyway....will that make a difference?

Dek kindly donated me some trimmed flies to put on but apart from that i have most of the mods you have so im hopeful of good results.

Just need time to strip off the gubbings and fit the bits.

I'm also running a PC5; the biggest single difference is the Brooker has an ignition controller, so I guess his dyno guy has upped the advance more than stock (in the midrange/low load where the return is highest). I've havent tried a lot of maps on my FZ1 (I have had a lot of experience with EFI in general though) and none induce knocking so as long as it's not detonating it's all about personal feel or a map that fits your existing mods and riding style.

Sounds promising

I think ill notice a big difference considering im running the mods with no power commander at present......all i need to do is fit the new flies, fit the o2 eliminator and fit the power commander

Did over 120 mile to the tank and no flashing light. I'm over the moon with my custom map it's bloody brill. Wish we could have met up and u could have had a blast on the beast.

Thing is im already cookin wi gas on my bike as it is because ive gotten so used to it as is so i have no issues now with cornering...actually right handers ive been pushing a bit too much, my rear tyre is edged......the power side of things to me has always been quick but even a badly running FZ1 will have more grunt and bottom end than my old 600 so i dont know any different.......replacing my throttle cable and blocking the ais made the throttle much smoother but apart from that if you put my bike on a dyno i know it would be running like a bag of Blue.

I was gonna actually flog my PC5 & then eventually the bike but now curiosity has got the better of me so im determined to bash on.

Even managed to sneak outside for a few minutes with allan keys and get prepared so now i cant ride it and must continue with the mods when i get my next chance.

Will keep yous updated.

Brooker....i wonder if you or anyone else can give me some handy hints on how to get this power commander software sorted out.

first problem ive got is that the 2 uploads from the dynojet site.....one for software and one for firmware....ive downloaded them but i cant run them as it says it is from an unknown source and i need my missus's password for her laptop as administrator.

so i thought in the mean time id download your map onto the laptop but when i then went to try open it up it said that "select which programme created this bla bla option that you get sometimes and then it couldnt find anything"

if i manage to get those dynojet uploads running will it be more straightforward when i try to download your map ie will it just automatically know to save it to the maps folder that dynojet says it creates once youve done all the uploads???......is it a specific dynojet type file or something???

Until you get the software installed you will not be able to download/upload maps or even view them. Once installed it is fairly straight forward to do, I think the maps are prefixed with pwm or something like that. You really can't go wrong as you can only upload the map files to your pc5, just follow the instructions  and you will be ok.
I am a bit of a computer numpty and I found it was easier than I thought :)

Ive managed to get the software on the go now & up.oaded all of the maps from the dynojet site which going by the descriptions are totally bonk...none with fce or air box mods or de cat or o2 eliminators........perhaps they will still be better than what ive previously had ie....nowt :lol

When i try getting brookers map i just get this message

No idea what that means, hopefully someone with more computer knowledge can explain the error and show you how to get it sorted.

As for the dynojet maps just about all of them are for standard bikes or with more free flowing air filter and various end cans only, you could try a few but they will not work properly with your mods, at best you will be still running lean probably.
You could try a few out from the American FZ1oa site, that is what I tried, some were abysmal and some were quite near but still not good at all revs, this is why I eventually went for the custom map even with my few mods.

He e.mailed it to me, I just saved it and opened it with the power commander software and saved it.  also make sure you "get" the map from the pc5 (if it had one) and save that too.

Noggythenog, from your post #33 it looks like you somehow associated the Dyno Jet Map file (*.djm) with Adobe Reader so when you double click the file to open it you are getting the error message because Adobe Reader doesn't know WTF it is.

I suspect you'll need to load the DynoJet software then Open the file from within there.

Be aware that the PC5 software won't default look for pc3 maps (suffix .djm), which is what Brooker had. You will need to pull down the box to change the file type. The PC5 software will then interpolate to create the more detailed map - you could then save it as a .pcm file

Noggy, you may be able to open the file in PC5 without too much hassle (I have zero experience with it) by Right Clicking the file and selecting Open With... If the PC5 software is not in the immediately available list, just navigate to where it is installed (probably C:\Program Files (x86))

Open With

cheers for the tips geezers.

I did try searching under the drop down menu for pc3 and pc5 files but I couldn't find it but opening it up with the PC5 programme might be an idea.

if I could just click on brokers link and save it instead of running it then I could get it onto my computer and then go into the power commander programme and upload the file from the computer....but I didn't see an easy way to save the file to my computer....im sure it gave me 2 options....one involved signing up to drop box which I didn't want to do and then the other one was supposedly to get it but I had a little thinking or uploading tab appear at the bottom left of my screen....I think the options on that tab were either open or run with....it cant open because of the above message and then run with:-

I did kind of try running it via the power commander programme but I appeared to get lost.....I had the choose which programme for this file...then I clicked choose from list of programmes and then I looked for power commander but for whatever reason it wasn't very intuitive after that as I seemed to hit a brick wall without any apparent success....I don't recall it being as simple as ok power commander...Ok...then it uploaded.....there was just nothing.

will have another try tonight maybe.

I got this far but i have a PC5 & i seen earlier that devilsyam said that he could copy the tables but focced if i know how to do that.

I suppose i can just try and import this to my bike but something tells me it wont be that simple.

Or i can highlight the whole table & then "copy" and try and create my own table and paste in your tables-i can copy the table but again im focced if i know how to create a new blank table to insert these values into.

Always gotta make things hard for myself :rolleyes

Anyone got a half decent PC5 map they can send me i think that would be easier?

Got this error when i saved it....i think it is to do with the different file types.

Brain wave :think

Maybe i can open up one of the standard pc5 maps and delet the values from it some how and then paste these into it.......?

Edit - just tried this i opened up a pc5 map, deleted all the values....copied brookers and then pasted them and then saved it as brooker converted.

Fingers crossed it works but when i saved it i didnt get the error message this time.

shite weather right now but i got some time off coming soon.

.......................................................bike o clock :smokin

Straight off massive difference with the smoothness or rather eagerness of the throttle

roundabouts in 2nd gear are no longer a kamikaze bucking bronco surge fest

definitely gained a chunk of low down and a chunk of mid range grunt....i could hear the difference via the K&N induction roar...much much better so fat and guttural

if anything i would say that the top end rush is a bit less......could be that the transition is just so much smoother but i'm just calling it as i see it and i'm not convinced that the speedo speeds top-endy were as high as they might have been before but i don't really care about that...it is probably marginal and then extra smoothness and grunt I've gained are well worth it.

big thank to Brooker for giving us the map for free....good egg :thumbup .....id love to have a dyno run now to see where it is at

considering i got used to the thing with mods and no power commander which likely would have done damage eventually and i had just got used to the throttle in the end for thinking it was good because it got better after i blocked the AIS but now it is in another world.

I started off about 1920hrs and filled up so i can compare mileage to a tank. Then i planned on getting Nick some evening sun pictures of the route that i had planned albeit in reverse so i headed off towards Newgale beach......except i ended up behind another young guy on a GSXR, not sure if it was 600 or a 750 but was 2 tone with silver...i think silver and black....anyway i kept my distance from him until he clocked me and then he decided to be mr silly overtaker to get away from me which i dont do...if anything im a bit too cautious sometimes. I soon caught up with him and it was clear he wasnt the best on the corners....cocky enough but was apexing far too early....passed Newgale & Solva and seen my chance to skin him so off i went until we soon got to St.Davids...then took the St.Davids to Fishguard road with some lovely twisties and soon had him out of sight so i slowed up a tad to let him catch up & he wasnt....edit...yes he was.... that far behind and so we played tag until fishguard with me letting him pass me on a big straight where he predictably gunned it.

Doffed our caps and flicked our canes before he peeled off into fishguard after waving at all his mates along the way......"wave away loser" :lol
That's what biking is about for me...thoroughly enjoyable...never seem to get any sport...usually with bloody cars....neither of us were shit hot but it was fun & if it wasn't for his sill overtaking would have been even better....i was buzzing.

stopped off for some delicious fish and chips at "Somethings Cooking" in letterston and texted my missus a photo of them to piss her off after lumping me with so many chores during the day.

afraid that's the only pic i managed to take Nick :\ :\ :\

edit - i did copy and paste the map table into a pc5 map that i deleted the values from.
