Rhythmic squeaking sound under acceleration.
« on: 12 April 2015, 04:18:48 pm »
Hi,

I have a 01 FZS600 that has recently been making some noises I can't quite figure out. While accelerating it'll make quite a loud, high pitched, rhythmic squeaking sound. The sound seems to go away if I disengage the clutch or decelerate. Sometimes I can hear it while going at a steady speed, but quieter.

At first I thought it was the clutch, then I was wondering if it might be the brakes rubbing, but I'm fairly certain at this point it is somewhere in the engine. I don't think it's the chain, it's pretty new, only a few hundred miles and well lubricated.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

If you worried about falling off your bike, you'd never get on.

Wheel bearings, chain or brakes.

Engine oil at right level?

Chris

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Thanks everyone. Good ideas! The wheel bearings isn't something I'd thought of. The chain tension seems to be fine and is equal while rotating the wheel.

My bet would be wheel bearings, when mine needed doing it was a funny sound that varied a lot with the load associated with acceleration.
