new rack
« on: 21 March 2015, 03:10:42 pm »
here is the new rack I've just made for Paulfzs.
there has been a little alteration to this type.
instead of the top rack frame welded to the outside of the support arm it will be welded on top. will post a picture or two later.

That looks brilliant John, bet you'll have a few interested in this, I've got a rack already or I'd be in for one :-)
Would be interested in crash bars if your doing them.

one thing for certain these will not break unlike ren*$%*
price will be around £92.50 inc shipping(uk) which is about the same as above.
I will only make these to order.
also if you require a grab handle type of rack similar to the one below  that I can make also.
it will be made like above with with handle like below.
got to make myself clear as you know some don't quite get it[size=78%]
the powder coat is very thick unlike most you come across.
they put that much on sometimes you get little drips hanging off.

Well done johnakay, that's a lovely piece of craftsmanship, you should be proud of it.
How do I go about ordering and paying for one from you. All the best 7omly.

just a little update:

i totally forgot i was supposed to update this!!

Ive used the rack around 100 times since getting it...

i had to do a 120 mile trip with a topbox full of tools and other parts aswell as a gym bag on top with a long extension lead, drill, some spanners, a hair dryer and a few boat parts.. totally around about 25kg and not a single problem all the way there and back!

ive had 30kg of lead in the topbox and no signs of cracking or bending, my topbox took more of a battering with the lead on the bumps but so far its going really strong!

i do admit the hundred + trips where to the church and back :D

i make fishing weights for local tackle shop so trip to scrapyard down a horrible industrial estate road and back, not let me down!

could add a seat to it and take twice as many pillions!

Ii have this rack (the one without the grab handles) and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the dog's dangly bits. It's the easiest part I've ever fitted to a bike. Four bolts tightened and fitted perfectly, on in five minutes. It now has a top box on it and both are as solid as a rock. I used to have a 600 divvy with Givi arms and a nonfango rack and it shook like a shiiting dog and at low speeds caused a wobble that proved the tail can wag the dog. This rack has non of that so I'm as happy as a pig in sh*t. I was also impressed with johnakays service and workmanship. It looks like the rack will easily outlive the bike. Thanks again johnakay.
Happy days.
