We have wifi in work
Its poor at best and buffers constantly
The pc shows 100mbps if I fit a wifi booster will this improve?

100mb the PC is showing is the max speed of the wifi adapter fitted in your pc. Best bet is to download a speed tester and see exactly what transfer rates you are getting.
I would think if it's in work wifi it depends how many pc are connected to it?

www.speedtest.net will give you an idea of the true throughput speed. Be careful though as these sites can lie too. They are only really any good at telling you how fast the cable connection into your building is. Once you get onto the WiFi network all sorts of strange things can happen.

As Clay says, the 100Mbps bit is the adaptors top speed not the actual connection.

As far as boosters go. How strong a signal do you get? If its weak then a booster would help if placed somewhere closer to the normal WiFi origin.

What's the distance between the WiFi Router / Modem and the device connecting? (Desktop, Laptop, Mobile etc) Is there anything in between such as walls? All of these can make a fair impact

As others have said, the 100Mbps is the link speed between your device and the Router / Modem.

Example connection;
Website ------- 20Mbps -------- Internet ------- 10Mbps ------ Your Router ------- 100Mbps ------ Your Device
The fastest connection speed available to any point is the slowest of all the routes along the way. So you can see that the even if your Device is reporting 100Mbps, you are never going to get that if your connection to the internet is slower.
