Oops, car transportation ship runs aground
« on: 04 January 2015, 11:43:35 am »
A bit of a to do in the Solent last night http://m.dailyecho.co.uk/news/11700840.UPDATE__Fears_for_giant_car_transporter_at_centre_of_dramatic_rescue_operation_after_running_aground_in_Solent/
I was kept awake by the helicopters doing the rescue.  Not complaining as they do an amazing job

Thankfully they got them all off, sadly not the case for the crew of the  wee Cement carrier up of the Scottish coast.

Apparently it was run aground deliberately to stop a more catastrophic scenario.
A monumental FOC up with the ballast caused a 50degree list. Beaching was deemed the best option.

Personally i would of shoved it up the shore in Cowes, that would of done a lot more good to the general decor of the sea front.

Jaguar, Land Rover say they had over 1200 vehicles on the ship. Plus JCB's and other Plant. Some Roll Royce and Bentleys too.
