Positioning of screen critical?
« on: 08 November 2014, 02:33:17 pm »
Hi all,

This week I replaced my bulbs with LED ones in my clocks.  To do this I took my screen off to get access to the clock mount nuts and after refitting etc I have found that wind noise is significantly lower than before!

I will take a semi-educated guess that its not the LED bulbs...

The screen was fitted fine before I took it off so I cannot really put my finger on why it is now providing better airflow to my bonce.

Nothing else has changed, same lid, same earplugs, same clothing, same route!  The only thing I can think of is that the screen bolts are a bit mismatched in size, 2 are quite long, I am wondering if I had those in a position that they were hitting something under the fairing and pulling it out, even so thats a long shot because if it was significant it would look funny.

It's not a "is it better? nah? well maybe?" its significantly better, no constant roar.. well ROAR like before, helmet not getting buffeted about as much etc.

Ah well, free upgrades!! :)

Is it too early to sign off with Merry Christmas yet?

Firstly, yes it's way too early for all that kerfuffle.
Secondly, have you grown or shrunk since you changed the bulbs?

That would be it then.
I have a MRA Vario Touring. Which I think is pretty much perfect for my stumpy height.
