Neutral light switch

So i went to look at a gen 1 last night and very tidy it was too,but when in neutral the light on the dash did not light up,so apart from the bulb in the dash could it be anything else and if not how easy or hard is it to fit a neutral switch.

check the wirng loom at the back mine was loose and didnt show the netrual light.

Hi brooker81 was just thinking of worst case scenario,did,nt want to buy the bike then find it costs hundreds to replace the switch.

The neutral switch shouldnt fail its a simple plunger switch. never heard of one going its normally a broken cable/bad connection somewhere tbh bulbs for the dash are cheap but a pain in the arse to do the job itself. i'd go for it.

O.K Thanks brooker just got to wait till Saturday to see what this firm will give me for mine, i know it is worth a lot more than they will offer but needs as must.

My neutral light went on the blink at about 50k miles. It was the plunger, and that's on the back of the engine behind the coolant bottle and swingarm. Contrary to the manual, you don't need to take the swingarm out to replace it, just take out the battery and unfasten the water coolant bottle and swing it out of the way. It's a fiddle, but easily done if you're even half mechanically competent. A couple of hours of swearing will do it! I think a new plunger is about 30 quid though

Thats not to bad,i use a Yamaha mechanic to do my work so should,nt cost to much to do.
