Stock exhaust vs after market weight
« on: 07 June 2014, 05:27:28 pm »
hi Guys,

Considering changing my very loong stock exhaust into mivv gp or another aftermarket. Apart from a couple of more BHP what are the weight savings?

Cheers
Paul

Enough to give you extra encouragement to change it..

In Old Fashion Pounds n Ounces = A Lot

Do not know exactly but when you get the big standard cannon off and compare to one you putting on I have a feeling you be able to tell the difference

a couple of Kg at least I would have said. and my aftermarket one is not much shorter than the OEM, a stubby will be lighter again.

Just be careful taking the old one off, you could give yourself a hernia lifting it!

how do you find mivv gp pipe in terms of noise? you noticed any increase in power? I am debating between titanium and carbon black as my engine is black with dark silver colour

Good timing, I changed mine today. Std can weighs 5.2kg

On the same scales my new GPR weighed 2.2kg. Unfortunately, scales flicked off as I was taking the picture so you will have to take my word for it.

Here is new can fitted. So 3kg saving better sound and more power from my recently Ivanised bike.

All the weight saving things I done to my FZ1 I must of put all that weight back on plus more by adding GPS,heated grips,Hard luggage, power commander, speedo healer, belly pan etc etc... :wall

And you can also add about an extra 3 stone I weight now compared to when I bought my FZ1  :grumble

You have to get yourself a set of scales like luke has.

everytime you step on them they have a fit and turn off,, you will never put on weight ,,well thats what I tell my Doc  :) anyway...

Nice can also ....but scales that turn off when you step on them intrest me even more thinking of all the extra sticky bun's I can burrow away with them in the bathroom

The mivv can i bought is a really good quality looking bit of kit. The sound is brilliant. It's a nice deep burbly tone with db killer in and a bit louder with it removed. Here's a pic..
