Unlucky mate. Who rides a bike and can honestly say they have never went over the limit...? Its easy done.

I was pulled doing 77 in a 40. In my defense it was a temporary 40 section on the M8 Motorway at Glasgow airport, and it was not very well signposted. I was in the foccin middle lane too, being overtaken by cars. The cops seen the CBR and just gunned me down  :rolleyes .

Unlucky mate. And like you say, these things always happen at the worst time, though I guess there's never a good time. Think you will be very unlucky to get a ban, there was a time years back Wales was draconian and treating speeding bikers like serial killers, but I think there's a different chief now. Finger crossed anyhoo bud, and all the best :)

It'd seriously be a rough call if you do get a ban Nick (6 plus a fine i reckon) but their is a plus side....................I get a chance to snap up a yellow thou  :lol .

I mean the depreciation on it if you're banned doesn't bear thinking about. :rolleyes

Ah, see, this is where I'm thinking positive - a ban means time to save for R1 forks and a decent rear shock - there will be no sale of a yellow Fazer - it's too fast for mere mortals anyway  :D

Interesting link for those in my position:

http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/Accused_Home/SpeedVSFines/SpeedVSFines.htm

On balance, it looks like my license will be safe, if a little more decorative, going by this and what most people have said here and elsewhere.

a mate got done 104 in a 60 because his job meant he had to drive they gave him a 2 week ban, which he took as a holiday from his job, no points either, when he told his insurance co. they said there wasn't a box for a 2 week ban, so didnt make any differance?

Just a reminder: 91in a 60mph limit, March, Crai village, Brecon.

Result is in:

6 points.
Fine: £200
Victim surcharge (eh?): £20
Costs: £85

Total: £305

I gave no mitigating circumstances. This was a guilty plea by post.

Any outcome would have been "a result".  ;)
Considering I was in instaban territory, I'd say a good result, having been nicked. Wouldn't you?

Don't forget to add on to those costs the increased insurance premium for the next 5 years

If I recall rightly, SP30 doesn't make much difference. If it had been a ban, I would have received a date for a further hearing for sentencing, which I would have had to attend in Llanelli: return train journey £112, possible B&B £65, plus loss of wages. If you think I'm going to cry over spilt milk, sorry, not in my nature  :D

Quote to renew for my car came today ( Golf GTTDi )...£225 fully comp. so I rang them (Hastings) to inform them I had an SP30 from Feb, they told me it would alter the premium, now £287, I had previously checked on the comparison sites and could get insured, SP30 etc. for £220 so I told the guy at Hastings I would not be requiring their services when he says " hang on, we might be able to do something .....how about £223 ?" two pounds cheaper than before, so my SP30 saved me two quid.

You're not wrong. All you've got to do is hit one of the go.compare type sites; you'll always get cheaper, and then if you phone round even after those quotes, you get cheaper still. Only a mug takes what he's offered first time by his current insurer. There are no advantages that I can see from remaining with one insurer these days. They obviously don't give a toss about customer loyalty.

I had an experience on Sunday (you know, Bill) that I found far more sobering as to the effects, or potential effects of speeding. Still thinking about it now. Not what did happen, but what could have happened, and most probably will, sooner or later, to some guys Bill and I rode with. Nice bunch of fellas to talk to, but total nutcases on bikes  :eek

Sorry you got caught, i was recently on the a55 in north wales. I needed to do the research on what would happen 71 in a 50. North Wales follow the agreed guidlines which is 10% + 9mph in which ever max speed zone your in. So sadly in a 60 you would need to be doing below 75mph to qualify for the speed awareness course.

Although the Police attempt to resolve most offences by way of a Fixed Penalty Notice, at excessive speeds, a Court appearance is inevitable. For speeds in excess of 100 mph (or more than 30 miles above the relevant limit) the punishment starts at disqualification as opposed to penalty points. However, the decision is at the discretion of the Court and in certain circumstances, a disqualification can be avoided.

Ouch still got your license though nick so it could be worse.  I reckon your insurance would go up a lot more if you got a ban.
