Interesting... you'd prefer admit to having a vag (normal for red bike riders) than allow people to think you ride a blue bike?  :lol :lol :lol :lol

I've been wondering about a buell, the air cooled ones not the new type/EBR. One pulled up at the lights a while, sounds mint and look fun

Bar Steward!!  :finger
Still want one....My name is Frostius Frostimus Frostidius, commander of the Bikers of the Wokingham Massive and loyal servant to the TRUE Fazer Emperor, StevieRST. Father to a tired Tiger, husband to a murdered 600. And I will have my reward, in this life or the next.  :lol :lol
Like the Versys 650 in all honesty. Thought about the MT-09 Tracer, it's a cracker  :thumbup

Tracer will be a good bike but still well out of my price range.

I've been looking at sensible criteria now for my next bike....i've done the crazy speed and tricked up experience. Now im after circa 200 miles from a tank because filling up after 130 miles is annoying. Also after a bit more comfort plus a high riding position.

As much as i love the sound of the little MT07....i think i'd look like a mutant on it plus it doesnt have the tank range i would like.

The SM singles would be fun but too uncomfy on longer runs which i predominently do.

The big SM's are still outta my price range such as the 990 adventure.

Ive been using the cycle ergo to get an idea of sizes and seating positions of different bikes and that has also led me to the 650 Versys.

Ive grouped a load of the usual suspects together by their seating positions. - see next posts.

Ok...the first group.

Hardly sportsbike crouched but still with a bit of a forward lean and reasonably crouched, likely to be painful for me on longer distances.....model used is 5 foot 11 to match me.......my thou is even mire crouched than the example because of the Gilles rear sets.

Out of general curiosity Noggy, how often do you need to do 200 miles in one hit? That kind of tank range really does narrow down your choices (although in your case that might be best  :lol )

Couple others to look at would be the V Strom (650 or 1000, depending on what you fancy), perhaps TDM 900 would suit the bill?

This is again personal, but all of those though you'll find gutless after your FZ1 - they're all twins putting out something like 80 odd hp (the TDM might be a bit more) - its less than your old FZS had!

A few more in the semi-crouched position.......not bad, just not the most comfortable for me on paper.

Im not saying uncomfortable per say.......just that better can be had.

Noggy, do you have some kind of neck/wrist injuries?
Again personal, but for proper distance riding I've always found a SPORTS tourer riding position to be much more comfortable (something like an ST1050, or my ZX-9R). When moving you you don't have any weight on your wrists as you hold onto the tank with your legs, and the wind lifts you up. Done a fair few 300 mile days on the 9 and was fine (it also gets over 200 before reserve on motorway runs  :lol ) - tried the same thing on both the FZS 6 and 1k I had and they weren't anywhere near as comfy. Despite the seats being softer, being upright like that puts too much weight on my lower back for comfort, and the lack of wind protection and upright riding position force you into the wind like a sail!
