If I can get a day off I'd love to join you guys :) I keep saying I mean to get in to Wales more, but what I need to do is actually get out in to Wales more :P

As long as I can get a few days notice I should be ok, work has -finally- calmed down a bit... been very hectic over the past 2 months

I've said it before, but it'd be nice to get a proper FOC-U group together for a Wales run. Me and Noggy want to do a camping trip at some point, although the best I can do this year would be a long/bank holiday weekend (or might be able to take a day or two off unpaid).  Exupnut has expressed an interest in doing a LoFos special to Wales at some point - any other LoFo takers?. If any others would be interested, how about some ideas for dates? Whether for camping weekend or just a day run.

Me too. I dream about those welsh roads. My dad lives in Hereford and said he would put a few of us up if needed meaning we could travel down the night before taking the sting out of the journey. A weekend in the summer sounds good.

Hmmm, a bank holiday weekend might have been better Nogs - having said that, I'd possibly be up for more than one weekend  :)

So, of your dates, the 16th and 17th would be best for me as the earlier is too soon after mine and Mids Europe trip, and I'll probably have to sleep for a couple of weeks after that   :z

And don't ask me to do mysterious computery-type things like cut and paste - evil black magic that is   :eek  :lol

Nice shots Noggy  :thumbup

The fog really adds a touch of mystery to the scenery, like something from Arthurian legend! But drove to work in it this morning and could barely see the kerb, so don't think I'd have fancied it on the bike.

When I'm riding on my own, I tend to stop a lot more often for photography too. You found some interesting spots there; don't recognise any of it. What route?

I've looked at the video footage from our run on Wednesday, and the camera was pointing too much towards the tarmac, but you are in shot for most of the Llangurig to Aber bit - perhaps interesting to us, but not to others.
I also got the A481 return to Builth. Same problem, but it does give a good idea of how twisty the road is - hardly a straight to be seen! Also quite a lot of glare in that bit, as we were heading into the sun; if the camera had been at a better angle I'm not sure it could have handled it, being a cheapy n all. Might put a short bit together to post if I get a chance this weekend, or might decide it's just not good enough - hmmmm.........

You sure are shrugging off those winter hibernation blues - might have to throw a couple of sickies from work!  :b

Ay oop Nog, home and safe.

Got back at 8pm after largely following traffic in the dark with a visor that kept misting  :rolleyes

Great day, longest one day mileage for me (on just a day out) at..........407 miles  :)

Sorry I got muddled about the mountain road mate, must have been the one from Builth that I was thinking of; we'll do it another time p'raps - but that A481 wasn't bad either eh?

Hill fuel (oh the things you miss out on Bill!  :lol )

The rendezvous:

At Rhayader:

And Aberystwyth:

Is that squeeky cheese I see?

It was the B4574 Nick..the road ive been wanting to do for some time...running parallel to the A44...it was a nice road but man i was cold to the bone with all that fog....on the pic with the winding water in the background...that water is the start of one of the resorvoirs....cronfa ddwr craig goch...the wind was hurling the fog through & every so often you'd get a glance of the water opening up...a shame really i was in stunning scenery but couldnt actually see much if it but i defo think that road would appeal to some foccers interested in scenery.....instead of going straight to rhayader theres a turn off which joins you to the Ellan Valley circular.

Yes the 44 is a must do fast road but these are equally enjoyable going slow.

Off to celtic manor tomorrow for a spa day, evening meal & overnight stay so im being prised away from the bike for a couple of days.

However it is crazy to go all the way to Newport without nipping into south wales superbikes showroom :b , ill chuck my kit in the boot i case i blag a test ride on an MT09 or anything really.

I'll hope to get more Welsh pics next week to let everyone see what they need to come see. 8)

What a bummer 16th and 17th would have been perfect but I'm on dayshifts and have no leave left. Off for a week from the 20th though.  why can't all foccers work the same shifts lol

Funny, but I have this premonition.........let me see.........yes it all becomes clear now..........sorry boss, I'm not well enough to come to work this weekend  :lol

The little mountain roads are often my favourites - a different kind of riding, slower, more technical, and often where the best scenery is. That's the trouble with doing the fast stuff - you get so committed, you don't want to stop for the scenery! Will have to check that one out sometime - ta for the tip  :thumbup

Test riding? Being back on the  :faz again hasn't stopped you hankering for something else then? Hmmm, thought it really was just winter blues, but looks like you might need to upgrade - lovely FZ1 for sale at the mo in For Sale & Wanted - everything done to it that you could wish for, shiny, shiny machine, only£4.2k, much cheaper than buying new, have a look, have a think, you know it makes sense!  :b

Just a bit of window shopping Nick, i love my wee fazer but it is a bit rough round the edges & no doubt needs a few bob spending on it over next couple of years...if i can save in the meantime thats great.

I really dont know whats out there, only ever had the fazer, i wanna try out seating positions & stuff, that position & a newer bike is more priority than extra power...although i wouldnt turn down extra power.....only a fool would :)

My fazer could handle shite & i'd be none the wiser as i don't know any better.ive either gotta spend up to another grand getting it as good as it can be & bite the bullet...or get the use outta it for 1 or 2 years then upgrade to something newer...i'd like to get this knocking noise diagnosed & see what the damage is to the old wallet.

I already commented on Dek's bike....it got my juices flowing...plus i woulda lived being on a faster bike than Bill :b

Dead Eye's happy he did it - you could be too  ;)

Pretty sure that knocking is wheel bearings. As I said, couldn't detect any movement in steering bearings, but definitely felt it on the wheel. Most places will happily check for you for nowt.

Got to get the chain kit replaced before I do another long ride Liam - was booked in for tomorrow, but looks like the rear sprocket hasn't arrived yet, have to call first thing tomorrow. Chain is proper shagged, about 4 seized links, no tight spots - just one slack spot  :lol

So sick of England's moto-X track roads, it'll be Wales at every opportunity this year I reckon  :)
