Sorry, front sprocket nut again.
« on: 10 October 2013, 01:55:48 pm »
I went to my local Yamaha dealer today (Ride on Glasgow) to get the front sprocket nut and washer. I have read on here that people seem to have paid around £2.50 for both. Ride on wanted £9! Is this right? I though it was a recall.

£2.44 from Moore's in Hemel Hempstead today!

(I had to buy another set as a couple of weeks ago I visited my mechanics and my mates bike was in there having the chain and sprocket changed, took sprocket cover off and no sprocket nut, vanished, so being the nice fella I let him have mine I'd bought to replace my 9mm standard one!)

Yeah, it wasn't till later in the day I thought
'Hang on a mo, I could have spent three minutes removing MY sprocket cover, get the mechanic to take MY 9mm nut off, give that to my mate who's had disappeared and put the 12mm on MY bike!'
Palm face moment!

you may not need to mate. best think to do is pop off your front sprocket nut cover (5 or 6 cap head bolts, and a 10mm bolt for the gear change lever) and measure how wide your current front sprocket nut is.

if it measures 12mm wide, your ok. if it measures 9mm wide, then your best to change it to the new 12mm sized one ( if you search for the issue on here you will see what issues the 9mm ones cause if/when they come off).

doesnt seem to be many (any?) people had any issues when they have fitted the new 12mm one and a lock washer, so if this has been done you should be ok :)

Did you fit it for them too, sounds a bit steep?
