The downpipes are holding up as they look like stainless steel replacements and not the original mild steel that would have come with the bike..

Get yourself a bottle of Optiglanz Stainless Cleaner, it'll shine those downpipes up in minutes.
 
Be warned though, it's bloody evil stuff so use eye protection and 2 pairs of rubber gloves, and i also put a bin liner behind the exhaust to protect any paintwork.
 
It's not cheap, about £20 a bottle, but you only need to use small amounts so it should easily last a couple of years, and the results are very good in very little time.

Have somehow JUST seen these messages... Are you referring to MY bike? Stainless steel? What?

Are they original pipes then?
The light bouncing off them and the odd bit of rust is making it hard to tell?

I have no idea what originals or stainless ones look like so have no clue mate! Would be very pleased if these turn out to be stainless!

As far as I know all the originals were painted black.
