Struggling with a screw?
« on: 25 September 2013, 05:16:10 pm »
 :b You're so rude?

No I'm  on about the screw that holds the rear master cylinder on? The cross head is knackered and because it's all a bit flexible i can't put any pressure on it. Anyone got any good ideas? Or should i just cut the Master cylinder off and cable tie it back on?
Things I've learnt today: When changing your brake hoses make sure you can undo everything before taking things off. I've a lovely new Stainless Goodridge hose and I can't change the fluid.

If its too knackered to gain any purchase on it with anything, you may have to go down the route of drilling it out (carefully)  :eek

Can you hacksaw/Dremmel a slot in the head and use a snug flat end screw driver on it?

Grind the head with a grinder. Do it in small bursts quenching with plenty of water in between bursts, otherwise the heat may melt the plastic parts.

All sorted, drilled it out but what a work up.  Another thing I've not undone since owning the bike. I've done a few of these this week, as my spanner rash will testify
