Electrickery guru required...

Ok, so, after being out for about 150 miles in the complete downpour earlier I now have electrical problems,
So- '03 fzs600
If I turn on the main lights (dipped beam) headlights do not come on and I have a buzzing noise coming from a relay located behind the clocks, also the clocks turn off- no odometer, no speedo, no rev counter, no clock and for some reason the fuel gauge goes up to full!
Fuses are fine and I swapped the relay for a brand new one- same buzzing and faults so gave the relay back to the shop (luckily I swapped it outside the shop because it was £22 for the relay!)
If I put the switch to sidelights then I get sidelights and rear lights no problems- and the clocks work!
Now,  if I use the indicators they don't work and the clocks turn off and on again resetting the time clock,
The same if I use the 'pass' button.
The horn does not work but does not reset the clocks like the other switches do!
If I push the hazard button the indicators do not flash but the sidelights do!
I've had the tank off and all connector blocks are dry and connected snugly.
Anybody any ideas, the only thing I can think of next is maybe there is a problem with the whole left hand switch gear, but if this is the case why do I get the buzzing from the relay for main lights!?

Sounds like its just piss wet through! A few of the symptoms possibly sound like a bad earth, and/or connectors are drenched. Keep the bike indoors if you can, preferably somewhere warm overnight and try again in the morning.
If that don't work, then start with the battery terminals, and check em. If that's not it, then you might have to go round the terminals and connectors emptying the water out (hairdryer works well if you haven't got a compressor) and using treatment spray such as wd40. You could also try and find the earthing points to see of they're still good.

All connectors under the tank are bone dry, there's no sign of any liquid in the box at all.
Although it was the primary headlight relay making the buzzing noise and the one I replaced I didn't check the secondary relay, fingers crossed that's the problem.
Wiring diagram doesn't show any earthing points apart from the battery and starter motor.

Not yet, i dont have a garage but I have an early job to pick up tomorrow, as the side and rear lights work I'm going to do that then go straight up to Burwins, my mechanics, what I like about them is I can plonk myself in the corner and just use their tools, then when I'm stuck ask for their advice.
It just seemed strange that nothing on the left switchgear was working which is why at the moment I've narrowed it to there or the other relay!
I've looked at the wiring diagram and I'm finding it hard to pinpoint as the only direct link I can find is the earth which is connected to other stuff like fuel pump, side stand switch, reg/rec and start switch!

I would be tempted to leave it! What with the price of petrol these days, having a few issues with the lights is a small price to pay if it means that your tank is always full, result!!

Turns out it was the connector block under the left hand fairing infill, cleaned out, wd40'd, now all working!


I like cheap fixes!
