Chain and sprocket recommendations??
« on: 03 May 2013, 03:04:56 pm »
MOT is at the end of the month and with the current chain and sprockets on it, it won't pass.

Heard so of you talk about the D.I.D chains. I was looking at this...

My mate recommended me this. He has 30k miles on it on his hornet and is only just starting to stretch.

D.I.D. X Ring, tried and tested, does the job more than well, so save a few quid and go for it.
It's all about the maintenace on how long you want it to last.
Look after it from day 1, especially after a bout of bad weather, and it'll last you ages with minimal fuss.  ;)

+1 on the DID. Buy a chain oiler, and the chain will last twice as long too. ::)

Do they check chain & sprockets at MOT?
What's a good oiler? I've only heard of Scottoiler, are there others worth considering?

I've used lots of scottoilers, 2 x motrax electronic, and a few manual oilers. There are a few more out there, but I like the motrax one best. Scottoilers can be tricky to set up, but are really good as long as you keep them topped up.

DID X ring are in my opinion the best, that said other well known make aren't bad the second choice you listed for example.  I would not buy them form Fleebay sellers unless there are well known i.e. Demon Tweeks etc some of these one man band/home seller types will buy crap and pass it off as genuine pocketing the difference.  There are sooooo many Chinese fakes out there and there good  :eek even stealers have been caught most are sold on Fleebay go to the respective web sites and but from an approved dealer/stockiest.

It my well cost you £10-20 or so more but you will get the real thing and a guarantee  :D
