chain tensioner seized

caliper side chain tensioner seems to be seized .tried to adjust ,didn,t want to go too hard just in case snapped .same problems anyone ??

i have had a similar issue, i had to remove both from the swing arm and thoroughly clean and re-grease hope this helps

I assume you have tried lots of wd40 over a couple of days?

You will need plusgas for this rather than wd40 also after a couple of days soaking it a bit of heat then tighten it a fraction before backing it out. I find each time it starts to get stiff again, use more lube.... I meen spray

I bought it specially to do my exup over xmas, and all the bolts came out fine, and I have cleaned them and reused with a tad of copper grease.
 
I always strip the bikes  back end out every winter so all linkages and bearings are cleaned and greased. Have to say in 11 yrs of fazer ownership, never had an issue with chain adjusters. I think if u R doing plenty of winter riding I would spray with acf 50...I cant believe the salt crud on my rear sprocket from just dry day riding in last few weeks !

Strangely enough, my chain tensioner on that side is really stiff, to the extent that I managed to round off the head of the bolt! The annoying thing is its not seized up! It was stiff when I stripped down my swing arm last year but took it out and lubed it up and thought it would be okay. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem, it just seems as if the thread is wrong!
By the way, does anyone know where I can get a good quality stainless replacement for mine?

Yes mate but this bloke is having trouble with his final drive chain tensioner.

I have numerous probolt accessories on my FZ1 but I'd baulk at £17 for those. I paid less than £3 delivered from ebay  for A2 SS.

Now you mention it I seem to remember buying 4 stainless bolts for a few quid to replace my tensioners. £18 for 2 with nuts is just ludicrous!

Done the same as Dekf, bought some stainless nuts & bolts off e-bay think, cheaper than Pro-Bolt.
