another question for you chaps .has anybody had the ivans slip on kit and then had full monty done .if so how noticeable was the gain if any ????

when I owned the 1000 it was fitted with both by the great mike, its not a huge gain from the slip on to the full monty but it is well worth doing transforms the bike mine was 136bhp at the wheel some make 140 ish also drop the front sprocket one tooth and hey ho you have a R1, I miss mine so much.

I had Mike fit the full monty on my last Gen 1. This combined with a change on sprocket, (cant remember which - only did it because my supplier couldnt get hold of a standard fitment sprockets at the time) made a hige difference. It would easily lift the front on the throttle in 1st and in 2nd with a little more encouragement.
I now have another Gen 1 which has the slip on kit fitted. It doesn't seem anywhere near as lively off the throttle as my old one. 
The full monty imho completely changes the power delivery / lower down torque from standard. It felt like a completely different bike after Mike waved his wand over it.
How much to change up from a slip on to a full monty please? When are you coming back Mike?

you will probably get the same reply off mike as i had .he says put ur money else where i.e. suspension tyres .mods etc .no massive difference from slip on to fully monty except surge at 8500 revs

I think the difference between the slip on and full monty is that the jet kits are different because the full monty has the air box modified with a dremel and the carb rubbers are also opened out with a dremel, which increases air flow and fuel flow, thus making the bike breath and fuel better. i agree with previous posts that if you already have slip on kit, it's probably better to spend money on suspension etc.. If you haven't done it yet get full monty

Both use jet kits with needles developed by Ivan.  The kit used in the Full Monty uses larger main jets and needles profiled to flow more fuel.

As Nickodemon said, there's a difference is in the extent of mods done during installation.  As a result, the Full Monty breathes better, develops more peak power and revs out faster and stronger.  However, upgrading from a Slip-On kit installation to a Full Monty takes almost as much time as doing a Full Monty from scratch and requires a new jet kit.  IMHO, unless you spend a lot of time in the upper reaches of the rev counter, you probably won't notice enough difference to warrant the outlay.
