morning deliveries

My daughter lives over a coplands shop and shes having problems of the shop having deliveries at 3 - 4 am in the morning is this right and can it be stopped ?

Don't suppose your bothered if there was no noise? Speak to local Environmental Health officer at your council.

It's not right to complain if the deliveries started before she moved in. She could ask if they can keep the noise down a bit.

Best bet is to have a word with the shop owners before getting too heavy handed - that might be enough.

Just like the people that buy a house under the local airport flightpath who got their house cheap becasue of the noise then complain about the noise to get nightflights stopped
 
Businesses have to operate. Things like Freshbread, newspapers and milk need to be deleivered at silly oclock because people would not like it if they go to the shop at 7am and find theses items havent been delivered.
Best bet is to ask the shop to ask the delievry drivers to try to keep the noise down. It may be that the noise is minimal already but she is a ver light sleeper and has the window open. We dont know.

I'm in a similar situation,i live above a pub    who on a Fri/Sat would play music till 1:30am! I tried to talk to the landlord but he was more interested in his profits so i went to Environmental Health to get their help. It took a few months to sort out but all is good now. I would ask the shop owner & delivery company if its necessary to delivery at these times & ask them to change deliveries to hours between 7am-10pm,if they don't contact your local council,You have a right & it could be classed as anti-social behaviour?

Company I work for has had this one than once, usually ends up with the company having to abide by delivery timetables between 7am and 7pm (flexible though). Make some noise with environment health, get others to complain, strength in numbers and all that.

she should try living on the main city centre route for the local fire station. 5 times a night they zip past usually. Drunks, restaurants, traffic, building site across the road. Tell her to try my flat for a week.

When they built flats around the harbour in Bristol, the residents were happy when the ships loaded during the day but got annoyed as time passed and the loading got later and later.
They complained and couldn't understand why this was the case and asked for it to revert to the day, the port authourities, bless them, tried to explain about the tides and moon's gravitational pull but the residents didn't really understand.

I agree it's best to ask first, but it really doesn't matter who was there first

has she tried ear plugs? I used a set that were connected with a string and they usually fell out while I was asleep
