Renthal handlebars
« on: 25 September 2013, 08:52:19 pm »
Hi,
I might need to replace my OEM handlebars therefore it could be a good opportunity to improve on the standard fitment bars. So can anyone tell me the basics about Renthal bars? For example do they clear the tank & front fairing as the standard ones do? And what bar ends would I use as I need some weight to balance the luggage options I sometimes use?
.....and its a Mk2 Foxeye

To Geordi

I've still got standard bars on mine (also unfaired).

Could you show a picture of your handlebars and tell me the type e.g. what code, or name they are?

And did you need to alter any of the cable lengths or front brake pipe lengths?

I have Renthal 758's on mine (as does Noggythenog I believe)

I still have my fairing on though and clearance is fine. I'm still using all standard cables as well :)

As for bar weights - the Renthal bars are made from Aluminium so have a smaller internal diameter so typically won't work with most existing bar weights. However there is a solution! Someone posted up a video from Dell boys Garage (see below). He used some longer bolts and some Rawlplugs to hold the weights in the bars - I've used the same method and its working well :)

Top man Dead eye - lots of good info in your post.
What about transfer of the throttle grip plus all the other switch gear....is all that straight forward?
I emailed Renthal to ask which bars would suit my Mk2 Foxeye as their website doesn't give that information but are foc-ers using 758's on their Mk2's?
My main issue is about clearance of my screen which has hand wind deflectors and also my Bagster tank bag so it would be a good move to actually see a Fazer in the flesh which has Renthals. Would anyone in the south east or south central who has Renthals on a Mk2 or Mk1 be interested to show me their bike?
