Security: I use 2 Squire chains (I found one was a tad short) and tie the bike to a lamp-post or a similar solid object as far as possible. (Forget the model of chains, but I got them from Halfords, £140 each).

As for a back box, it depends how much space you need, I've got a Givi Monokey on mine, the rack + 45L box + fitting was £270 all up.

I use a good quality disc lock and chain, plus it's got a Cyclelok alarm and it's been Datatagged which makes it difficult to strip for parts too :)

You can get a top box that attaches to the pillion grab rails, but if you want panniers as well you need the Givi top box and pannier kit which is a) expensive and b) a PITA because you have to bolt it on to the underseat pipe mounts which involves taking apart half the back of the bike!

I bought a brand new Givi rack from fleabay for£25 the only problem I had was the brackets would not wrap around my after market cans, and I had to make new ones up.

Out of interest, I have a spare set of the Givi Mounting Brackets and the bolts that go onto the underseat pipes on the 04-06 model FZ6-S (NB it's only the brackets, not the pannier mounts etc)

If anyone's interested, drop me a line and we can work out a price.

Interesting; I've been looking for this. Top-box would be handy but I don't want a permanent rack. Got any links?

Not off hand, but a bit of searching should find what you're looking for.
