just passed bike test ....hello fazer
« on: 08 September 2012, 07:55:22 pm »
hi all , passed my mod 2 on wed 5 sept and 2 days later treated myself to the 600 cc fazer.LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT !!!

bought it near oxford and i live in ramsgate ,kent so got to know it a bit on the way home, but the only poor thing about it are the headluights (already read some old posts on here about the headlight mods )
although im restricted to it being 33hp as i passed test on 125 cc the fazer still seems bloody fast -though im not pushing the bike at all hard
so there you have it ,-hopefully i will learn all the tips and mods you guys have on this forum and hope soon to have some input as well
cheers ;)

congratulations. i don't even know what a mod 2 test is and why you have to be restricted, but sounds like you're well on the way to an unrestricted licence anyways....

there's various wisdom on bulbs, but the plus side of not having great headlights is that it will slow you down at night... !

i'm guessing that right about now you are somewhere near your most vulnerable - just passed test and out on a bigger bike. did anyone tell you to keep your head up and chin pointed round all corners and to look through the bend at where you want the bike to go? nobody told me when i passed my direct access, it was a revelation when i started doing it!
is it clean enough?

Well done on passing test. Big difference between 125 & even a restricted 600. Dont know how restrictor works on your machine but daresay youve already noticed big difference in acceleration(throttle response),weight & brakes! Cornering will feel better with a fatter rear tyre especially low speed manoeuvres. Practice smooth use of controls, think & look ahead. Give yourself time & watch out for dumb f***s :eek  Enjoy :lol

Well done and welcome. With the restricted bike you will lose a lot of top end but should still see 80 on a good day (eventually). Acceleration is still like a reasonably sport car tho, so no slouch. Big benefit is big bike weight, handling, braking, and let's you (re)learn how to ride, planning your route through traffic, observation etc. Then after two years remove the restrictors and woosh you have a "new" bike that will hit 140.
Lights? What reg is it? Square lights are crap, but HIDs might work - do a search.
Have fun.

Welcome mate and congratulations on the test, bet you love it!

Worth £20 spend or so on 'Osram' Nightbreaker or Silverstar bulbs - plenty on ebay.

Hi mate from another newbe. On the market there is something called an HID kit. This boosts the light output up hugely! The kits vary in cost but have a look on evilbay as they are available and fairly easily fitted. I am an ex 1200 Bandit rider who came a cropper when the bloody thing fell on my right leg breaking both bones and putting me out of work. The Fazer was esential for me as it was still 95 bhp and 40 kilo lighter than my bandit. I am 53 and came back to biking 8 years ago and never had an accident. Welcome mate. Fatherbiker.
