Centre stand fittings???
« on: 02 July 2012, 12:53:25 pm »
Hi all,

I've just bought myself a centrestand on eBay for my '98 FZS600, but it didn't come with any of the fittings (springs, nuts, bolts etc)

Where would be the best place to get these remaining bits? I've tried WeMoto, eBay, cmsnl.com etc but not found them yet!

I rang my local Yam dealer and he suggested that he could kit me out for £50, which seems a bit steep to me.

Cheers,

Ollie

What happened to the original centre stand? Is it damaged, or was it missing (removed)?

Nuts / bolts / springs should be obtainable from a decent motor factor / Halfords / hardware store. Not familiar with the FZS, but on the later FZ there's metal plates that the springs hook into (size approx 71 x 23 x 3mm), a decent engineering shop should be able to make suitable plates in 5 minutes.

Maybe worth doing a free countrywide breakers yard search online, make sure they reply by email only though.
The bolts are quite bespoke, and you'd be better off getting the exact ones made for the job.
Same as the springs, there's a smaller one that sits inside a bigger one.

Cheers guys, I hadn't considered breakers. To Google!

And to AdieR, for some reason there wasn't a centre stand on the bike. The bracket was there to hold it in place, but no stand =/

i gave a centre stand and some fixings to someone on here a few weeks ago
i think he already had a centre stand but wanted to modify the one i gave him.
so in theory he should have a spare set of springs and 1 fixing bolt
trouble is i cannot remember his username

Have you got the parts manual from the downloads section?

You could do a search for the part numbers on google or have a look on 'ajsutton.co.uk', they are usually good and they have the parts manual online(minus part numbers).

@lolliver
Did you find the parts you need?
I have a spare spring if you still need one?

No probs, i found it in the top box while having a rummage!
Few months ago i won a complete 2nd hand centre stand on Ebay for £1.99, in like new condition!!!
I obviously binned the old twisted stand, with the bolts, but kept the spring for a rainy day!  :D

Absolute bargain! My stand cost me £40 on eBay and only came with the rubber stopper lol. Still. All sorted now :)
