2008 FZ1N Instrument cluster
« on: 04 June 2024, 02:05:14 pm »
Hi,Do any of you have a decent colour wiring diagram of the instrument cluster please? Or is there one uploaded on here anywhere?I have an issue with the clock not keeping up with time when the ignition is switched off, I'm guessing there's a problem with the permanent live feed to it.Ideally I just need to confirm the colour of that wire as I've been told RED by one person and RED with GREEN dots by another.Hopefully I can then narrow down where the fault is and repair/replace the broken wire as necessary.
Thanks

Thanks for this, am I right in thinking the permanent live to the multi function gauge is the Red/Green wire? The clock stops when the ignition is off, not the end of the world but if it's got a clock I would like it to be working correctly.

Yes, the Red with the green dots is the permanent feed to the instruments, the immobiliser and alarm if fitted. It is fused and fuse is usually called a backup fuse.
You have the FZ1N and the wiring diagram is slightly different, but the wire colour is the same.
I have attached the wiring diagram specifically for it

Thanks, that's a good clear diagram. I connected the multimeter to the battery earth terminal and checked for voltage at the back up fuse which is fine but when put the probe to the red and green in the plug on the back of the instruments, there's nothing. Will double check again later and maybe try and run a temporary wire from the fuse to see if it works before I do a more permanent fix. Thanks again.
