  thank you for link but I've seen this and unfortunately it only shows you the lower connections, not the whole system and assembly, assuming you already have the system fitted. I've spent more time and believe I got the cables correct but the server motor does not turn when blipping the throttle. I used to have a GSXR and could see the set valve rotate when I blipped the throttle. Hmm.  Kind regards, Scotty

I found the EXUP servo motor just in front of the battery 

The exup servo is under the front left side of the petrol tank, so I dont know what your refering thats "next to the bettery", as the battery is directly under the rider, under the seat.

Yes, the battery is under the seat, and the EXUP motor is in front of it as I said, not under the tank!  Maybe yours is different? I've taken a photo to show! Regardless, it was the connecting order I wanted to know which I figured out, but the operating of the motor, which does not rotate as was expecting under revs. kind regards.

Apologies, I keep forgetting about the change over from 05/06 when we went from FZS to FZ1.

The servo operates on the FZ1 operate in a similar fashion to way it does on the FZS, as in turn the ignition on hit the kill switch and you should hear the servo do a short diag movement -

And just to summarise your situation your saying the exup/servo is not moving/working when you turn the ignition on or when you gentle rev the engine.?  Have you checked connector to the servo to make sure its operational..? Hi, yes, to summarize, the motor does not rotate when revving the engine as I have seen in youtube videos.     It initially moves when you turn on the ignition (once only) or if I rotate it by hand where it resets to Top position. After that there is no more movement, no matter how hard I rev her. I'm obviously missing something or there's a fault elsewhere perhaps?  The manual did not go into detail let alone explain the correct setup advising (it's set up by Yamaha and not to mess with it! lol). That's all well and good, but I've had to install the system hence my confusion. lol       Oh well, thanks to everyone's help. kind regards, scotty.

At this point I believe the Exup motor is faulty and will strip it down and report back how I get on for others benefit!

As far as I know the exhaust valve in the Gen2 is only there to cheat noise regulations which are measured when the bike is in gear and moving and the revs are somewhere between 4k & 5k.
This video shows a fully working valve, it's not easy to make out but you can see the valve is open at low revs, closes around 4k, and then is fully open again around 5k and stays that way - https://youtu.be/UGA3kaBHzVc?feature=shared
This video maybe demonstrates the issue Scotty_vr is having !?! where the valve doesn't seem to be doing anything when the engine is being revved I believe that this is because the bike is not in gear therefore the noise reduction is not required - https://youtu.be/9h4PkpWy7jo?feature=shared
