Sadly just more knock on from years of cuts to local council budgets, lack of proper central government funding to public transport and a coherent national transport policy. Still we'll have HS2, great if you want to go to Birmingham non stop, latest total cost somewhere around £106bn and I not sure if that includes phase 2. Bearing in mind that is almost double the cost they predicted in 2015, at that rate it could get to well over £200bn.
Now if all that was spent on reopening (that can be) rail lines closed by Beaching cuts, properly fund public transport and improve current roads eg a national transport policy. Then we'd be in a far better position, question is why....................... They can't make as much money short term as they can by building HS2
