FZ1 gen2 - Your running temp??
« on: 21 April 2020, 07:25:08 pm »
So, today we had 18-19 degrees out and i did a 30 min inspired run after work. When stopping at home temp was 103 and both fans went on when cycling the ign.
Where are your temps...?? I´m contemplating that the Lars MAP is to lean with a full system hence the high temp....!?

Regards
Mattias

Mine depends on what sort of riding conditions I'm in.
If I keep moving and am doing at least 30mph+ then mine sits around 78-80, even if I'm doing 100mph+ it sticks around that temp.
If I'm stop-starting, waiting at lights or just in general slow traffic then the fans come on at 100 degrees which tends to happen after about 15-20mins
In all honesty I can count one 1 hand the amount of times the fan has kicked in on mine in 4 years of ownership. I actually have to try and get it to kock in most of the time just to check it's still working haha

That was kinda what i thought, have to go for a richer map. from the map pack..until i get the autotune in there.
I where seldom under 100km/h  in that half hour so way to hot!

Thanks!

Have you not got a local tuning shop that can run it up on a dyno for you? That would tell you instantly if your running too lean?
What modifications have you done to make it run cleaner?

When my bike's laid up for the winter I occasionally start it up until the fans kick in and it seems to take forever coming on at about 100 but what I've found is one comes on before the other and I sometimes don't wait for the 2nd one to start because I'm normally pissed off by now :)  but I do know it works but just like you I don't think I've noticed them on on a run,I suppose if you sat in a traffic jam in the summer they'd come on but why wouldn't you be filtering ? :lol
never look down on anyone unless you're helping them up.

As said, full exhaust system straight thru no dB killer...opened up airbox with BMC filter.

So, i put in wittlebeast smoothed stage 4 tune and not only did it ran smoother and easier throttle control.
In high speed temp was 75-80 degrees & in slow traffic it maxed out at 93 degrees. Well happy with that!!

A sidenote.....As a former TRX owner with a TDM900 motor in it. It´s the same thing with this engine.
If one is not using earprotection you hear the motor and wonder if they used spanners for motoroil. Plugs in and you only hear the exhaust note, relax more and just thrash it as it should be ridden.
