K&N Airfilter increasing horsepower?

I am just about to replace my stock Airfilter with a K&N filter which promises to increase horsepower by up to 4%. Can anyone tell me or does anyone know if this claim is true, will there be any improvement in horse power or is this impossible on a standard setup?

You're unlikely to get any big numbers unless your current filter is really blocked but a K&N does really improve mid-range pull and you will definately notice the difference....I was quite surprised when I fitted mine

its only an air filter! i cant see it making much of a difference. and i dont think ur average rider can notice minor improvements in mid range or whatever. i'd say its more in ur head than anything. sure im fairly certain my bike feels a bit quicker after i've given it a good clean

ive noticed on the fz forum they are modifying there airboxes and getting some good gains in power??

unsure about extra horses (well not that you'd notice an increase so low) but theres definately noticable mid range

Sorry Akula nope its not mine its from the fz6 forum its a drilled/cut airbox from a fz6 there reporting more power and better sound
