Cranck case composition

Good day every one  . I in desperate need of advice . I'm the proud owner of a Yamaha fazer 600 2005 model . Chain has broken and broke of piece of crank case asembly . Would one be able to do aluminium welding on cranck to weld piece back . I'm not sure what is the composition of the crank case  . Please any advice

Add a photo.
It's aluminium, someone will be able to look at it and tell you either way.

The biggest issue is not if you can weld it as someone somewhere could do that, it is if there are any bits left inside the case which will knacker the engine.

I'm planing to strip the engine as there is a oil seal just behind the place where it broke off . I still have the peace that broke off luckily. Thanks for replying . I will post a photo when I get home
