The basic premise I agree with: Segregated cycle lanes usually make motorcycling on those routes more dangerous.  Travelling west from Oxford Street to South Ken used to be a breeze via North Carriageway Drive.  Now I'm stuck to Park Lane or Bayswater road.  Then over the serpentine the road is so narrow I cannot filter very easily (so stay in with the traffic or take risks)


But why the hell didn't MAG stick to facts instead of then going on to accuse cycle infrastructure of bringing London to a standstill?






In some cases the cycle provision helps, where road furniture is removed from the cetnre line!

I don't think I've ever ridden on south carraige road. Although Park lane isn't a bad road, 3 or 4 lanes of usually pretty briskly moving traffic.

I don't think west carriage drive is that bad either. The problem is and always has been suicidal pedestrians walking across the road through, stationary traffic without looking.

I don't mind riding through town and if I am honest, by far the most dangerous things are the mopeds. No mirrors, no lifesaver checks, no idea and always in a hurry/race. I think the CBT is a bit of a joke.

The cycle super highway doesn't really bother me as long as they let motorbikes use the bus lane's and clearly sign post any restrictions.

I wouldn't worry about the mopeds with learner drivers for much longer. I was chatting with one of the local instructors the  over day and he seems to be in the knowledge that the CBT is going the way of the dinosaur in the next few years?
That's apparently why they introduced the a1 license  (or whichever one it is) so that anyone wanting to ride a bike will have to complete a test no mathere the size.
To be honest it would probably be a good thing for safety but not for motorcycling as a whole.
I don't know how true it all is but certainly makes sense?

Totally agree - I've back handed a fair few of the riders..........and a few indestructible cyclists  :grumble
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

A back hand is a back hand Celtic. If you ride a moped/cycle like a cnut, popping out of traffic/jumping lights or swerving in front of me causing me to either brake hard or swerve then knuckle glove armour on visor/back of helmet or chest if a cyclist saves talking.
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

I totally agree fella, but i'm loathe to lash out these days, my lashing out dys are over.
1. They might lash back and you're now in a fight situation.
2. Dash & street cams/witnesses your now in a law/legal nightmare
I always find a good telling off does the trick
