Fork play.
« on: 31 May 2016, 12:10:06 am »
My bike has developed a slight 'knock' or looseness in the front fork.

I'm pretty sure it's not the headset as when I put on the front brake and rock backwards and forwards I can't replicate it. It's just when riding and over bumps. Is it likely to be worn bushes?

I've never had a fork apart before. What part is likely to be knackered and what other spares should I get?

Thanks,

Hi Bretty, the first thing I'd do is rule out wear on the headset and front wheel bearings before you start to dismantle the forks.
Have you made sure everything is 'tight' and properly torqued at the front end? Changing the fork oil to 15w could make all the difference. :)
Treat everything in life the way a dog would- if you can't eat it or foc it, forget it.
