Leaky nipples
« on: 25 February 2016, 02:03:02 pm »
I've got a very slow leak from both the bleed nipples on my front calipers.

When fitting them should I have sealed them with anything or is it simply (hopefully) that they need replacing?

Cheers

They should just seal.  Many are over tighten which damages the tapers mostly it's the bleed nipple taper that gets buggered but if the caliper body taper has gone it must be recut which isn't easy depending on how much it's damaged or it's new calipers  :eek

If you've recently worked on them it's very possible it's residual fluid in the nipple your seeing.  Clean the nipples with brake cleaner ensure all the fluid is removed and the nipples are bone dry, if they start to weep again change the nipple and repeat the above, if they leak again the bodies tapers are buggered.

Cool thank you, I've given them a good clean tonight but I've ordered 2 more off wemoto because when I was changing the calipers I took them out and they were a bit cruddy so prob wouldn't be a bad thing to replace them.
