You don't pay VAT. Your customer does. As said earlier, you are just the unpaid tax collector ......

Yes but its on things that go towards the final end product in the end, as I am buying something with VAT added and turning it into something more valuable that the customer then pays the VAT on and I pay that (minus my VAT ) to the taxman. = unpaid tax collector
I buy a sheet of steel for £50 + VAT = an extra £10, which I will be claiming back I then bash it into the shape of a fazer mud guard and sell it to you for £200 + Vat = an extra £40. So at the end of the Quarter or whatever it is, I will be sending the tax man £30 = the £40 I got off you minus the £10 I had to pay for the sheet of steel.
