90 degree countersink bit wanted
« on: 16 October 2015, 06:06:11 am »
As it says, want one for both alloy and steel, not going to be used often and ones online seem a little expensive just to leave in the bottom of the tool box.  :eek

Anyone brought a cheapie and was it any good?

How big does the countersink have to be Joe.

No joy if you used the biggest steel drill bit that'll fit in the chuck?

I've only got a 82 degree countersink.

Hole is 9mm but countersinking a m8 which is about 16.5 diameter. Don't want to use large drill bit as want accurate hole (ocd) may ask engineering at work but have feeling they'd probly use a drill bit as finish not a priority to them

You can sharpen a normal drill to do the job.

not sure that they're 90 degrees though.

Thanks, only thing is I don't want to invest £20 + on tools I'd rarely use again

Car boot sales are an absolute goldmine for tools. If you are prepared to spend a few minutes sorting through boxes you can find some real gems at bargain basement prices ;).
Saw loads of countersinks at the local one this morning.
Even the second-hand tool dealers who have all the best stuff are a fraction of the cost of buying new.
I rarely buy any tools from the shops any more.
