FZ1-S Full Fairing
« on: 19 September 2015, 01:40:54 pm »
Hi Guys,

I am considering fitting a full fairing to my FZ1-S, can anyone advise me what options are available?

I have found an after-market accessory version on Jester and Powerbronze, and I seem to remember seeing a Yamaha version once somewhere too.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers

After a little bit more searching, a lot actually - Yamaha do an OEM lower cowling fitment in black or red £284 & £314 respectively

Its a quality piece of kit and dead easy to fit - just undo a few bolts and do them back up with a bracket fitted then bolt the plastics to the new brackets. Simples.  :)

The only task that may cause issues is drilling the two upper front mounting holes in the existing top fairing - but even if you cock them up, they are underneath the fairing and cant be seen.

I bolted everything else up first so that the fairing was in its final position before marking the exact location for the holes. I then loosened the cowlings off in order to drill the two holes. Spot on.

I am well chuffed with it and think it is good value for money for OEM colour coded kit.

£350 for secondhand ones ? I don't think so.

Got some on order from here.

I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.

When you fit the full fairing do you have to remove the centrestand?

Nope ..... you need to remove the radiator side panels (these are left off) and the front indicators, which are remounted through the new fairings once fitted.

If you have engine mounted crash bungs then they also need to be removed and remounted using an off-set bracket (not sure where you get the offset bracket tho as Yamaha website doesnt seem to have any listed!)

Cheers, thanks for that. My crash bungs have what I think is an offset bracket on so they might still fit.
You might be able to see them in this picture.

Not convinced there is enough of a gap there on yours for the cowling - if you look at the ones used with the cowling on the yamaha website you will see that there is a bigger offset ..... there is only one way to find out  ;)

Here we have a couple of pix of the finished article - the new fairing in all its glory, the high level exhaust, Sellerie seats and Yamaha LED running lights/indicators.

Nothing more to do except get out and enjoy riding  :) ....... maybe some heated grips !! ........     and some PR4s .......

Bag on rear seat is just an old bag I have, has two velcro straps to hold it to rear seat. Had it for years, cannot even remember where I got it and there is makers name on or tag.I have seen similiar ones on ebay, like this in link  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorbike-Motorcycle-Essential-Collection-Mini-Tail-Pack-Bag-By-Autokicker-/221359658393?hash=item338a105599:g:q3IAAOxyLiJR3qti
