I've got a 51 plate blue one, and it goes plenty quick enough when I want it too. Maybe that's because I'm a faster rider and don't need to worry about my bike keeping up with my riding abilities by having a specific colour?
That's because it's the slowest colour and as beginner riders improve they migrate to the fastest, the red ones
I have a blue one (well deep purpley metalic bluey). Well, all but the scratched bits from when I keep leaning it over a bit far...
That's why you need a red one, it'll go round quicker and the centrifugal force will stop you scratching it
When mine went red and I kept scratching it my GP gave me some medicine.
Everyone knows black is the one true colour.
Nor notice the scraping past London red buses...
