handlebar Risers... this OK?
« on: 21 April 2015, 08:03:41 pm »
Hi,

So I've just fitted some risers I got from m and p in the hope they're going to ease some of the strain on my left shoulder (result of an off a couple of years ago).

Having fitted them there is a gap at the bottom (see pics) as the front of the original top seems to be bigger than the bottom.

Question is, is this OK? I've done them up as right as they were but thought I should check what people thought

Cheers

HJF

I think it's right, can check tomorrow for you for sure, wee arrows on original are at top and as far as I know, you screw them up first then do the bottom ones, thus leaving a gap on the bottom ones. Yes, it seems strange to have a gap only on one part but they're like that on a few bikes I recall when I was changing my bars on a previous bike.

There has to be a small gap at least so that the clamps tighten up on the handlebars. If there was no gap at all the top clamp would be sat on the bottom half and the handlebars would be loose.
As sinto says it does look strange but they are all like that .

Not the nicest coupling i've ever seen, but as long as the bars feel stable with no movement whatsoever then i'd be inclined to let it go.
