Hi, anyone got a hazard switch on their '98 model?
Just wondering if it would be worth trying to get something sorted on my bike, ie. Is the wiring compatabile etc etc

You can see how to on Youtube but it's not something I would use, I have seen some guys using them when filtering through traffic but I personally don't see the point.

Yeah, they're used wrongly, but I've always had them on my previous bikes and I like tinkering lol
I also Marshall on some charity events and it's good to have them for that. I was maybe thinking it was just a straight swap and connect the wires up and that's it.

I find them really handy, especially if i've pulled over on the roadside at night.
All bikes should have them.

Agree with Darrsi. I used to use mine all the time (not when filtering though)

I would imagine you could take the loom from a 2000+ Fazer, and add it to yours. Adding JUST the hazard switch to your loom would give you a headache, I reckon

Its just one of those little things that are unique to the pioneer that is a 98 fazer. You could try fast flicking left and right

Funnily enough, I used to do that on my 2004 Varadero 125. Amazed that it isn't mandatory on bikes as it is in cars, it is seriously useful

My 2004 Vara never had it. I don't think my friend Rick's VFR800 has it either.... The 2015 VFR certainly doesn't. Odd.

My 2004 Speed Triple hasn't, but my 2015 Tiger has.
Obviously regarded by manufacturers as a 'nice to have'. Must cost all of £5 to add the costs of making a bike.....

I think indicators are an option on BMWs and Mercedes but most owners don't think its worth paying for.

To convert the earlier bikes to hazards you just need the left hand switch gear from a later model and it plugs into original loom. The later bikes have a solenoid connected to the parking light circuit so you could leave hazards on with key out, if you just swap the switch gear the hazards only work with ignition turned on.

I did the switch swao when I did learner rider instructing since it was handy when the learner stalled in 5th gear in the middle of a junction. It was either put the hazards on or drive off and hide round the corner until they got themselves sorted out lol

I've saw some on fleebay but they connections look different :-( are these the connections that are in the black box under the tank? Means I could have I quick check to see.
I was thinking it would be a straight swap and I don't need them on without ignition so that's ok by me

And your right about BMW and merc drivers lol I think they drive in the middle lane of motorways as they haven't paid for the indicators, and taxi drivers are another story all together, don't get me started on them :@

must be an expensive option on Volvo's too.....incidently my 2002 Suzuki gsx1400 didn't have hazard lights either.

I used mine regularly, to thank other road users as apposed to taking of my hand, safety in mind, was easier and safer to quickly flash my hazards :-)
