Why did you replace the k&n with a new k&n- they're made to be cleaned and re-oiled!
'recharge kits' as k&n call them are readily available from Halfords which includes cleaning fluid and oil enough for several amounts of cleaning of the filter!

Looks like it's been passed down from generations, probably gone past the million mile quota.  :lol

The recharge kit needs time for the clean filter to dry out and I needed the bike on the road - I probably could have waited til there was a gap once I'd figured out the grip thing but there wasn't a huge amount of difference in the price between the new filter(16 v 30) and the cleaning kit and I figured I'd never this grungy thing fully clean. If anyone wants the old one drop me a line.

What mileage would you say was on that filter? Did you get the magical 50,000 miles between cleans?
