bar wobble
« on: 11 August 2014, 09:41:58 am »
Hi my bars seem very twitchy iv tried new tyres bearings etc... still no joy. The bike was fitted with renthals when i got her and was wondering could the bar ends cause the problem as theres more weight in a tea bag than the ones that are fitted... any recommendations for heavier ones.? Or any standard bars and ends for sale before i take a lump hammer to it

I take it your on a 600? If so, then quite a few of them do that with Renthals or standard, it's got nothing to do with the bars.
I've had 3 boxeyes over nearly 100,000 miles, and 2 of them did it. Fucktifino why either!
I tended to just keep hold of the bars, it doesn't do it then. :)

I have Renthals on my Gen 1 and found them a bit buzzy as standard with the renthal bar ends. I wouldn't say wobbly though!  I bought some Bandit bar ends (heavy) on eBay and cut the internals off my light renthal bar ends and used longer bolts. Worked a treat. See attached picture

The most popular bar ends for Renthal bars have always been Oberon (universal, heavy) bar ends imho...
I've got a pair fitted to mine and they'll cancel out any vibes & wobbles...

I got my Renthals tapped out to take the OEM bar ends. If your bars are going light I'd look at getting more weight over the front, sliding the forks through the yokes may help if you haven't done so already.

I thought the main use for bar end weights was to lesson the vibrations passed up from below,
