Gen 2 Yamaha touring screen
« on: 15 June 2014, 12:51:26 am »
Hi Foccer's.
Got a gen 2 genuine Yamaha touring screen for sale if any one is interested. Have got one that I use on my gen 1 and it is the best screen I've tried by far. There is no wind blast to your chest or shoulders making high speed touring very comfortable. I bought it to replace my adapted one when it gave up the ghost but that's not going to happen yet so thought I'd offer it on here. It's in very good condition, although there is a small mark on the bottom right hand corner I think. These very seldom come up second hand and are expensive to buy new. . I want £50 incl postage or make me a sensible offer. Will post pics later if anyone is interested. Cheers Dazza.

Pics as requested, I have put a standard gen 1 screen next to it to show the height and have tried to show the marks on both sides  at the bottom.

Whats the wind noise and buffeting like compared to the stock screen? and any other other screens you have on the bike? ( I have a DB on their atm)

Wind is directed to the top of my lid,  buffetting is not too bad but probably depends how tall you are, it is noisier tbh but I always wear earplugs anyway.
Woodwizard,  no this has not been adapted to fit the gen 1, I use one exactly the same that I have adapted. This will fit straight on to a gen 2 as it is,  just to be clear.

Ok, thanks dazza. So this could be made to fit a gen 1. I looked at the picture of yours in a previous thread, looks like the holes need re-drilling, any other mod needed?

Yes, apart from re-drilling the four lower holes as the two top one's line up, you have to use your gen 1 screen as a template and cut away the shape so it fits the gen 1 fairing. Had to take a bit out of the bottom of the wings as well as the sides. I left the bottom as it is but could do with cutting to follow the contour of the gen 1 fairing. Not a straight forward replacement but for how it feels when you ride, I think it's worth the faff.

Sorry to be a pain, but could you measure from the top two mounting holes upwards please, just so I can gauge how high it would sit on the fairing please. What did you find the best tool for cutting this was.

From the top two mounting holes to the top of fairing is 12". I found the best tool for cutting it down was a band saw as it was a fixed platform and left both my hands free to hold and feed the fairing through it. Jigsaw would work just as well if you can find a way of holding the fairing still.
